September 2024 Newsletter

I finally have a new historical western romance that’s out! I can’t believe how long it’s been. I had to check, and the last one came out in July 2022. So it’s about time we traveled back to the US in the old west. This time, we’re going to Arizona.

Tagalong Bride (Love Under Desert Skies Series: Book 1)

Here is the description:

Lucas Reid is desperate. He needs money, and he needs it fast. Wealthy heiress Gail Patterson isn’t the most attractive lady in Pennsylvania, but she is available. Putting on a pretense of loving her, Lucas proposes marriage, and she says yes.

Now it is his wedding day, and Lucas realizes that the hardest obstacle of his life has begun. He is going to have to make it seem like this marriage of convenience is one that will be full of passion–a passion he does not feel for his new wife.

As he is struggling to decide how he is going to consummate the union, word comes from Arizona that his sister has been abducted by a group of bandits. At first, he thinks this is the perfect excuse to delay things with his wife, but Gail is not the quiet and timid wallflower he thought he married. She is going to Arizona with him. And this is going to change everything about their marriage.

This is a historical, sexy western romantic comedy that features a virgin hero and heroine who’ve never traveled out West before. They will come across an inept deputy who wishes he was a hero, a group of bandits, and a scorpion that knows when to show up at just the right moment.

I’m happy to announce that Anyone But the Marquess is ready for edits!

Here are the books so far in the Marriage by Obligation Series:

I just finished the first draft and am working on the second draft to send out for the final round of edits. This is the book that settles things between Felix and Elizabeth, which I set up in Midnight Wedding. Thank you for everyone who has been patient with me. I went through burnout for some time, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to finish it. I’m happy to say that the burnout phase is over.

This book should be out in the middle of October, so I’ll give more information about this one then.

I’m about 25% of the way into The Wilderness Bride

(Oregon Series: Book 1)

This is going along very well. Our heroine has finally come to realize our hero isn’t going to kill her. (She was never in any danger, but the hero found her unconscious and on the verge of death and brought her to his cabin. She woke up and naturally assumed the worst. But then, who wouldn’t, right?)

Anyway, she has just come around to realizing that she’s safe, but a preacher is about to come by. This is going to set forth a series of events that will lead me where I want the story to go. This preacher is going to see them at this remote cabin and assume the two are being intimate. (This preacher is the hero of Book 2 in this series, so we’ll be seeing him again.)

Neither the hero nor the heroine want to be marriage. They each want to be alone. But this is a romance, so there’s no way I’m letting them off the hook. The preacher is going to force them to marry. Then I expect the story to really get interesting.

I just figured out The Hero Least Likely

(Love Under Desert Skies Series: Book 2)

I had a rough time figuring out what to do with the main characters. The plot is your basic “which man will she choose?” themes. I introduce Bernadette, Blaze, and Zeke in Tagalong Bride. But I was having trouble figuring out who Blaze and Zeke were. It took some time away from the story and a strong revision, but I finally got things figured out. I am very relieved. 😀

I’ll make a post when my next BookFunnel Promo runs in September.

I’ll be featuring An Unlikely Place for Love in that promo. This is an older book. It goes all the way back to 2010. (I can’t believe it’s been that long. Where does time go?) More information will be announced on this blog (and my regular author blog and my email list) on September 10.

I’ll see you in a couple of weeks!
