I have a lot of exciting projects in the works, and I finally got around to making covers for some of them!
The Preacher’s Wife will be out June 29!
This is Book 2 in the Oregon Series. (Book 1 is The Wilderness Bride.)
I am not putting this one on pre-order because I’m making it free. I feel like this is a book God wants me to put out there for free. I grew a lot closer to Him while writing it, and I learned something new about Him. Some of the subject matter was tough to write, but we live in a tough world, and it does no good to pretend those elements don’t exist. So if you’re looking for the squeaky clean and cute Christian romance, you won’t find that here. This is a “rubber meets the road” kind of Christian romance. This is the way I wish more Christian romances were. I do enjoy cute and fun, but that is pretty much every single Christian romance out there. (I started writing romance to have something out there that would be different in the Christian community, and I’m very happy with the way this book turned out.)
For those of you who buy on Amazon, give Amazon a week or two to price match to free. I can’t go in and make it free myself. I can only put it at $0.99. I can put it at free at the other retailers (Google Play, Apple, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, etc), and I will. So if you get my books on those other retailers, you can get the book for free right away.
The Science of Love is Almost Done
This is Book 2 in the Chemistry Series. (Book 1 is The Earl’s Bluestocking Bride.)
I figure I have about 2-3 more chapters left to write. I learned a couple of things about science while writing this one. I didn’t expect part of the book to become a science lesson, but lo and behold it did. 😉 Don’t worry. I did not let the science stuff override what’s really important, which is the romance.
In the past, when I wrote about Oscar in Midnight Wedding and Anyone But the Marquess, I thought he was more of a goof. I was surprised to see how intelligent and romantic he really is. That just goes to show an author how they might think they know a character, but it’s only when writing a story that they figure out what the character really is like. When you have children, it takes them growing up to figure out who they are. That’s the way it is with characters. As you write, they reveal themselves to you. The wise author doesn’t fight this process. It’s best to let the characters dictate the storyline, rather than trying to force the characters into the plot.
I am hoping to get this out late August.
I am over halfway into Love Me, Love Me Not
This is Book 1 in The Marriage Mart Series.
This series will feature sweet (as in no sex) novellas that are simply there to provide humor, fun, and romance. See? I meant it when I said I wasn’t opposed to fun and cute stories. 😀
This one features a hero and heroine who have known each other since childhood. One day when they were in adolescence, the hero had the lightning bolt moment when he realized he had a crush on the heroine. All of us remember what that was like when we were 12-14, right? I had a few of those in my tween years. Anyway, seeing as human nature is the same regardless of time periods, our hero was so nervous around her that he settled for teasing her in order to show his affection. She, however, did not see it as teasing, nor did she find any of his actions or words amusing. So as they grew up, she came to think of him as annoying. Therefore, he loves her, but she doesn’t love him.
That is where we start in the book. The two are ready to go off to London in search of a spouse. I’m still working my way through the logistics of how I can convince her that the hero is the right one for her.
I am hoping to get this out in late October.
I’m close to 10,000 words into The Old Maid
This is Book 3 in the Oregon Series.
I don’t know if this is the last book in this series or not. I know there’s something that could be done for Henry (who is Corrine’s brother), but there’s nothing sparking my interest. I need to have an interest in the story in order to write it.
This book, however, is where I finally get to feature an “older than average” couple. (I’ve been looking for that angle for years.) I did the best I could with the images I found. The hero is in his 50s, and the heroine just turned 44. I have to figure out the age of the hero’s son to pinpoint the hero’s exact age. To do that, I have to go back to The Wilderness Bride (Book 1 of this series). I am doing that right now.
When you read The Preacher’s Wife, you’ll come across a woman who is the town’s spinster, or “old maid” as you might also think of it. Her name is Rorie, so when you see her show up, keep her in mind for this book. I knew when I wrote the rushed wedding scene in The Wilderness Bride that I would be pairing up the stern-looking “old maid” with someone. At the time, I thought maybe it would be Henry, but Henry’s too young. I needed someone older. So, I found a character who will fit that.
I would like to get this one out in January, but we’ll see how well the characters cooperate with me. If not this one, I can probably get All’s Fair in Love & Scandal out that month.
All’s Fair in Love & Scandal will be Book 2 in The Marriage Mart Series
The main character in Love Me, Love Me Not is the twin sister of the main character in this book. That’s why the models for the images had to be the same woman.
I expect this to be another cute comedy. Sweet, of course, to fit the series. This will be a battle of wits kind of setup. I only have an idea of what this one will be about, but essentially, the hero and heroine will be setting up some scandals in an effort to win a bet they’re going to make with each other. What’s fun about this is that the heroine has grown up her entire life minding the rules and being quiet. It’ll be fun to see her come out of her shell.

That’s all I have for now. I hope everyone has a wonderful June!
