This is my last book for a while where I’ll dive more into a Twilight Zone feel in my books. It was fun to explore a darker atmosphere within romance novels, but this series wraps that experiment into something different up. The Regencies I’m currently working on are more light and fun, similar to the romances I typically do.

A quick description of The Duke’s Secluded Bride:

Baldwin Darby, the Duke of Edmondstone, was originally introduced in One Enchanted Evening. He was Marcy’s cousin who showed up at the end of that book. I featured him again in Fairest of Them All. At long last, this is his romance.

He agrees to an arranged marriage without meeting the lady he’ll marry first, but he’s been warned that the lady isn’t like other ladies. She’s never been in London. In fact, she refuses to leave her own section of the manor. She won’t even see her mother, aunt, and uncle. But he’s drawn to her and decides to marry her anyway.

This is loosely based off the Rapunzel fairy tale.

The Rancher’s Bride will be out in June.

This is Book 2 in the Wyoming Series. (Book 1 is The Outlaw’s Bride. I’m also changing that cover.)

This is a historical western book. I’m currently having a cover artist redo the cover, so I decided not to post a cover this time. This is Abby’s book. I go into what happened with her and Lloyd, and I offer an update on what happened with Wade since he got injured at the end of The Outlaw’s Bride.

My editing team is still working on it. I’m looking at the end of June for its release.

I’m in Chapter 7 of The Fugitive’s Bride.

This is Book 3 in the Wyoming Series. I’m also changing this cover, so I won’t post it.

I expect this to be the last book in this series. Some people have asked me if I’ll do a book for Jeremiah, but I have no inclination to do that. Jeremiah’s happy ending is not getting married. His happy ending takes a different turn than what typically happens for my characters, and since that is where his character is leading me, I’m going with it. I do have a plan for him, and it will be a happy one.

This book is Wade’s. I decided to use the woman Lillian was with in the stagecoach for the role of the heroine in this book. That was Millie. She has her work cut out for her. Wade is in a pretty foul mood because he feels like he’ll never get his ranch back. Patience isn’t his strong point. (I can relate since it’s not mine, either.) But he’s going to have to wait, and it’s in this time the romance part of this story will take place. I will get to the final place where Wade goes to reclaim the ranch. The entire series has been building up to this moment, so I definitely want to tackle it. The end of this book will neatly wrap up the entire series.

I’m in Chapter 4 of Nobody’s Fool.

Nobody's Fool ebook cover5

This is Book 2 in the Marriage by Design Series.

Here are the books in this series:

Breaking The Rules new ebook cover2  Nobody's Fool ebook cover5  A Deceptive Wager ebook cover

This one is a good comedy. The characters are interacting in a way that brings me back to the kind of stuff I used to write when I wrote A Most Unsuitable Earl (Lord Edon’s book) and His Reluctant Lady (Mr. Christopher Robinson’s book). So if you like that kind of humor, I think you’ll enjoy this book.

The hero in this book is a geeky and socially awkward gentleman, but he’s also a very sweet person. The lady initially sees the outward surface (the geeky and awkward part of him), so she’s trying to convince him that she’s not desirable so he won’t want to be with her. He’s unwittingly foiling her plans up to this point, and it’s funny to me because she’s thrown off guard and doesn’t know what to do about it.

Ultimately, this is a romance, so we know she’s going to end up falling in love with him. The fun part is finding out how she does that.

I’m also at Chapter 4 in A Deceptive Wager.

A Deceptive Wager ebook cover

This is Book 3 in the Marriage by Design Series. At this time, I’m planning to finish up this series with this book.

This isn’t a comedy like Nobody’s Fool. At least, right now, it’s not a comedy. I don’t expect it to be, though it’ll probably have some funny moments. I like to interlace some humor here and there within most of my books, and there are a couple of places I can find some comedic moments slipping in.

But overall, this is more like The Earl’s Inconvenient Wife and The Earl’s Scandalous Wife in the “tone” of the book. The hero had a mother who never cared about him or his father. She ran off with her lovers and had children with them. His father did everything he could to cover up her indiscretions to protect him and his son. Needless to say, he doesn’t trust ladies. So when he’s tricked into marrying a gentleman’s sister, he isn’t happy about it.

Our heroine doesn’t want to be married, either, but in her case, she doesn’t want someone controlling her like her brother had been doing. She was biding her time until she was able to live off of her dowry. When her brother makes her marry the hero, that dream flies right out the window.

So from the beginning, these two are not happy at all to be married to each other. I haven’t gotten far into the story. There’s more to flesh out with the details as I go forward, but as of right now, the hero has placed a strict older woman to chaperone the heroine at all times. So our heroine’s situation has gotten much more restrictive after marriage. This chaperone is there to make sure the heroine doesn’t take a lover. The hero wants to make sure when the heroine has a child, it’s really his.

It’ll be interesting to see how things progress as the story goes. Right now, I have no idea what the heroine will do in response. I won’t know until I write it.

That’s it for what I’m working on. I’ll end the post here. I hope everyone has a great May!
