Giving credit where credit is due

The original version of The Outlaw’s Bride (called The Stagecoach Bride that I co-wrote with Stephannie Beman) was out in 2013. I’m very excited to finally have this series completed. It’s been on my mind over the years. Stephannie created compelling characters (Mic, Abby, Wade, Lloyd, Jeremiah, and Charles), and she created the situation where Charles had killed Wade’s wife and kidnapped his son. I created Lillian, Thayne, Katie, and Millie. I took the series and tweaked on it to go in the direction that my writing brain wanted to go. I started with the rewrite of The Stagecoach Bride which became The Outlaw’s Bride. And from there, I continued on until I completed the series with The Fugitive’s Bride.

I’m grateful to Stephannie that she allowed me to buy the rights to the series so I could run with it and do what I wanted to finish up the series. This is one of my all-time favorite series of everything I’ve done. I wanted to make sure I gave Stephannie the credit due to her for helping to create the world in which this series takes place in.

Now for the description of The Rancher’s Bride

Sometimes the right person comes at the worst possible time…

Having suffered through the horrors of the Civil War, ex-doctor Thayne Jackson believes he’s the worst possible candidate for marriage. He has chosen, instead, to live a quiet and peaceful life raising his orphaned niece. But when a beautiful young woman with a two-year-old boy shows up injured in his barn, everything changes.

Abby Gray has one mission: to get Lloyd back to his father. She must not get distracted by the fact that Thayne is kind and honorable, and she must certainly not dwell on her growing attraction toward him. Once she’s healed, she has to leave. She can’t stay at this ranch and make a life with him and his niece. There’s no “ifs, ands, or buts” about it.

Except there’s a ten-year-old matchmaker in their midst who is determined to get the two of them together. And she’ll come up with an assortment of creative ways to do it.

The Fugitive’s Bride will be out August 29!

TheFugitivesBride2

I’m happy to say that this book is with my editing team, so I was able to nail down the exact release date. This book finishes the Wyoming Series.

I occasionally get the question of whether Jeremiah will get his own book or not, but he doesn’t need one. He gets his happy ending in this series. It’s just not the traditional way we think of happy endings for a character in a romance series. I won’t say any more than that because I don’t want to spoil this book for anyone.

I’ll say more about this one in the future. It was such a pleasure to write this series. I know I said that before, but this is up there with the Larson family and the South Dakota Series in how I feel about my historical western romances. These are the books that make me 100% love the storytelling process.

I’ll get back to writing my other books this week!

I had to take the past two weeks off to work on initial edits for The Fugitive’s Bride. I have trouble writing while I’m editing. So I put aside writing during edits.

I’m hovering around the halfway point in Nobody’s Fool!

This is a fun book. It’ll be a light and entertaining read. So far, our heroine has been unable to dissuade the hero from falling in love with her. In fact, the harder she tries to make herself unappealing to him, the more he seems to want to be with her. When I left off the book, the hero had even confessed his love for her. Needless to say, she’s feeling overwhelmed. 😉

I’m planning to have this out in October, but that depends on how soon I’ll be able to finish it. I refuse to rush it.

I’m also about halfway into A Deceptive Wager!

This is also a fun and light book. This book will complete the Marriage by Design Series. The battle of wills between the hero and heroine are reaching its peak. I suspect things are beginning to take a slight turn where our characters will stop being at odds all the time, but I have to get back to writing it to find out.

I’ll get started on Patricia Larson’s book!

Even after all this time, I only have a thin idea for the plot of this book. It’s why I held off on writing it as long as I have. Usually, as I think about a book, I’ll get more ideas to better flesh out how the story will go. There are times when I get no such inspiration. I have to start writing the book and see where it takes me. Perfectly Matched is one of those books. I’m going to have to navigate this one with only a thin “light” to see the way. So I’ll see where the characters take me.

I hope we can all have an uneventful and quiet July!
