November 2016 Newsletter

Well, I thought I posted the October Newsletter (albeit late) on this blog, but as it turns out, I made it one of the pages on this blog instead of a post.  I don’t know if anyone saw it.  I’m going to delete the page because it does nothing to add to the sight.  I’m sorry for the mess up.  (Long story short, it’s been a long month, and sadly, this wasn’t the only mishap I had along the way.)

Alright, so now I’m going to get on with this post, which I have double checked to make sure is a post instead of a page. 🙂

The Viscount’s Runaway Bride is Now Available!

20160607_The_Viscounts_Runaway_Bride

This is Book 1 in the Marriage by Bargain Series

Here’s a description of the book:

What Lord Worsley really wants is a wife who can excite him, but what he ended up with was an engagement borne of necessity to his sister’s friend. So when Miss Damara Onslow intercepts his carriage on his way to his country estate, he’s immediately drawn to both her bold spirit and her beauty. Even more exciting is the offer she makes: money in exchange for marriage.

More than happy to get out of the marriage he was dreading, he agrees, and soon they are husband and wife. From the moment they exchange vows, it appears as if he’s found the perfect lady, and his marriage is the love match he’s always wanted. But not everyone is happy about it. To make matters worse, he never thought to ask Damara why she was so eager to get married, and the truth might be the undoing of them both.

This is Book 4 in the Chance At Love Series

(Book 1: The Convenient Mail Order Bride; Book 2: The Mistaken Mail Order Bride; Book 3: The Accidental Mail Order Bride)

I can’t believe it, but this is the end of the series.  I am coming close to the end of the story.  I should be done in two weeks, and I’m going to miss these characters.  One reason I enjoy the Regencies so much is that they all take place in the same world, so it’s easy to bring in old characters.  I never have to say “good-bye”.  With this series, I will have to say good-bye when this story comes to a close.

For this reason, I’m going to add a bonus ending that I typically don’t in my other books.  I am going to give a glimpse into everyone’s lives about a few years out from the official ending so you can see how all the characters are doing in their happy endings.  I’m not the kind of author who does “happy for now” endings.  When my books end, it is always a “happily ever after” view of things.  I don’t know if I’ll ever come back to this series and do the children’s stories.  I have so many other projects that it almost seems like that would be done in a second lifetime.  There’s simply not enough time to write down all of the ideas I have, and this makes choosing which books to write very difficult.

But, I am extremely happy with this series.  It’s one of my favorites.

For those who might be wondering, I am going to finally bridge the gap between Carl and Abe.  They will be friends by the end of this book.  It’s especially fun to see how their relationship has progressed from book 1 to book 4.

Groom For Hire Has Been Pushed Back to February

Groom for Hire

This is Book 3 in the Pioneer Series.

I hated to do this, but if I didn’t, I was going to end up cutting this story short.  I don’t want to rush the ending just to get it out in December.  I might be able to get it out in the end of January, but we’ll see.  I’m over halfway into this, but it’s still too early to tell.

Since this wasn’t on pre-order yet, that’s why I chose to move this one back instead of the other books that do have a pre-order already set up.  Plus, doing this frees me up to focus on The Bargain Mail Order Bride, which has been on pre-order for several months.

But this book will finish up the Pioneer Series.  Book 1 is Wagon Trail Bride, and Book 2 is The Marriage Agreement.  I do bring in the Amanda, Richard, Jesse, and Laura at the beginning of this book, and I will bring them back in at the end.  They don’t play major roles, but they will in the story.  Most of the story takes place on the wagon trail.

The Rake’s Vow Has Been Started

This is Book 2 in the Marriage by Bargain Series.

If you read The Viscount’s Runaway Bride, you’ll get a better look at Miss Loretta Bachman.  I introduced her in The Earl’s Wallflower Bride, and suffice it to say she wasn’t the most likable character.  But this is the book where she’ll become a heroine worthy of one of my heroes. 🙂

The basic set up is that Loretta (after being jilted by Anthony in The Viscount’s Ruanway Bride) is going to be so desperate to save her reputation that she tracks down a reformed rake in hopes of marrying him.  Since he needs to save his estate and she comes with a significant dowry, he agrees.  Only there’s a hitch.  He made a vow of celibacy when he stopped being a rake, and that’s going to cause a lot of problems when she starts to fall in love with him.

A Look Ahead…

I’ll be starting 2 new series once I finish with The Bargain Mail Order Bride and Groom For Hire.

The Misled Mail Order Bride Series

This series will be a historical western romance series.  It will feature Sep (Joel’s brother-in-law in Shotgun Groom) and Richard and Amanda’s twin sons, Mark and Anthony.  (I plan to do a fourth book, too, but I haven’t figured out the fourth hero yet.)  The basic set up is that a no-good, greedy lowlife man sent for four mail-order brides.  He had no intention of marrying any of them.  What he wants to do is sell them off for a profit.

Marriage by Fate Series

This series will be a Regency series.  It starts off with Miss Opal Beaufort, the younger sister of Warren (Lord Steinbeck) who was the hero in The Earl’s Wallflower Bride.  I really liked her, and I wanted to do her story before I forgot the details about her story.  She has layers in her backstory that I’m afraid I won’t adequately put into her story if I don’t get to it while The Earl’s Wallflower Bride is still fresh in my mind.  I plan to add 2-3 more books to this series, but it’s hard to tell who will fit in with it until I start the first book.

***

We’ll go more into the future series as I work on them.  For now, I just wanted to give you a glimpse of where things are going.

~~~
I posted this last month, but because I messed on and made that a “page” instead of a “post”, I don’t know how many people saw it.  So I’m going to bring up Wattpad again.
I don’t know how many of you are aware of Wattpad, but I have a couple of books already over there and I’m adding more.  If you happen to stop by, I hope you say hi!  Click the link below to check out my Wattpad page!  (If you have trouble with the link below, here’s the direct url: https://www.wattpad.com/user/ruthannnordin)
The Accidental Mail Order Bride
(Chance at Love Series: Book 3) is Now Available!
Here are the books in this series:
  • Book 1: The Convenient Mail Order Bride
  • Book 2: The Mistaken Mail Order Bride
  • Book 3: The Accidental Mail Order Bride
  • Book 4: The Bargain Mail Order Bride (due out by January 7!)
Here’s the description:
Eric Johnson’s real mail order bride shows up later than expected, and she quickly learns he is already married. Now Allie Jones is stuck in a small Colorado town with no way to leave. She must either marry the only suitable bachelor or risk being sold to the saloon’s owner to be one of the soiled doves. Seeing she has no real choice, she agrees to marry the bachelor.
Rumored as being a monster by the people in town, Travis Martin is content to live alone, sheltered in the wooded area of the mountainside. The last thing he expects is a preacher when there’s a knock on the door. With great hesitation, he agrees to the marriage. He can’t confine such a beautiful young lady to the saloon, but he knows the marriage won’t be a happy one for her, not when she could have had someone so much better.
So the best thing he can do is keep his distance and leave her alone. She, however, can’t help but be intrigued by her new husband. Is he the ugly beast the people in town claim, or is there something beautiful worth loving just beneath the surface?
The Viscount’s Runaway Bride
(Marriage by Bargain: Book 1) is over halfway done!
20160607_The_Viscounts_Runaway_Bride
Click here to pre-order!
This book follows The Earl’s Wallflower Bride, so it’s a continuation of the other Regencies I’ve done up to this point.  It does, however, begin a new series.
Remember Anthony Barlow in The Earl’s Wallflower Bride?  He was one of Warren’s friends.  Well, he is the hero in this book.  I already have plans to make the two ladies who made Lady Iris miserable the heroines in the rest of the series: Miss Loretta Bachman (who will be in Book 2: The Rake’s Vow) and Miss Celia Barlow (who will be in Book 3 which I have yet to title).
I’m at Chapter Six in Groom For Hire (Pioneer Series: Book 3)
Groom for Hire
This is Joe Otto’s book.  I did bring back Jesse and Laura (from The Marriage Agreement) early on, and I gave a glimpse of Amanda and Richard Larson.  But for the most part, this story takes place on a wagon trail heading to California.
I hope to have this out in mid-to-late December.  There is no pre-order date set for this one yet.
I’m at Chapter Three in The Bargain Mail Order Bride (Chance at Love Series: Book 4)
The_Bargain_Mail_Order_Bride_new version
Click here to pre-order!
This book will complete the Chance at Love Series.  It is Carl Richie’s story, and I hope to bring to peace the feud he has with Abe (hero in book 1 of this series).  I already know how this book will end.  The fun part, of course, is figuring how I’ll get there. 🙂
This release date is set for January 7.  With any luck, I’ll get it out sooner.  We’ll see how things work out.
The Rake’s Vow (Marriage by Bargain: Book 2)
20160709_The_Rakes_Vow
Click here to pre-order!
This will come after The Viscount’s Runaway Bride, and it will feature Miss Loretta Bachman who will be rejected by Anthony is The Viscount’s Runaway Bride.  If Loretta Bachman sounds familiar, it’s because she was one of the ladies who annoyed Lady Iris to no end.  So she comes into this book as a selfish lady.  The goal, of course, is to make her likable by the end of the story.
After being rejected by Anthony, she seeks out a gentleman who’ll impress her social group in London, and this gentleman will be a reformed rake whose reputation makes him the greatest challenge in all of London.
His Auctioned Bride (Misled Mail Order Brides: Book 1)
20160808_His_Auctioned_Bride2-2
Remember Sep from Shotgun Groom?  He was Joel Larson’s brother-in-law.  I’m finally doing his book!
I haven’t made up a Booklaunch page for this yet, but I do have it on pre-order at iBooks at this link.    It should be coming up on other retailers soon.  I have this marked at June 3.  If I don’t end up adding to the Pioneer Series, I should have this out before June 3.
The Reclusive Earl (Marriage by Fate: Book 1)
20160823_The_Reclusive_Earl2
Click here to pre-order!
Remember Warren’s sister Opal?  This is her story.  I plan to start this once I finish the Chance at Love Series. I don’t know what other books will be in this series yet.
That’s it for now.  I hope everyone has a terrific September!
Be-lated August 2016 Newsletter
I figured I’d wait a little later to post this so I didn’t end up doubling up on another post within a week since I have a new book out today!
Today, The Marriage Agreement is Available!
This is Book 2 in the Pioneer Series.
Here are the books in the Pioneer Series: Wagon Trail Bride (Book 1), The Marriage Agreement (Book 2), and Groom For Hire (Book 3: due out December).
The Marriage Agreement ebook cover
For those who read Wagon Trail Bride, this is Jesse and Laura’s story. Jesse was the man who lost his wife in childbirth, and Laura is Amanda’s friend.
Here’s the description:
Jesse Palmer headed to Omaha with his expectant wife and his mother-in-law. When his wife dies in childbirth, his mother-in-law blames him. And worse, she tried to take his son away from him. In order to get his son back, he needs to marry someone–and fast. And who better than the one who makes the offer?
Laura Rufus volunteers to marry Jesse so he can keep his son, knowing full well he’s still mourning the loss of his first wife. The last thing she plans on is falling in love with him, but day by day, his tenderness toward his son makes her wish she hadn’t been so quick to propose a marriage of convenience. Will there ever be something more between them, or will she be stuck with the marriage agreement they made?
I wrote a flash fiction story to give Laura’s mother (from The Marriage Agreement) a happy ending
Ingrid ebook cover with subtitle
During the beta reading for The Marriage Agreement, someone asked me if I could give the heroine’s mother a happy ending.  This is a very short story.  Think of it as an epilogue.  It’s only 1,200 words long.  But it does contain a couple of spoilers, so I advise you read this after you finish The Marriage Agreement.  And because it’s so short, it’s free.  🙂
I just uploaded it to Smashwords today.  It should be on Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and iBooks within a day or two.
Here’s the Smashwords link since it’s the only one I have at the moment.
The Accidental Mail Order Bride will be out August 27!
This is Book 3 in the Chance at Love Series.
Here are all the books in the Chance at Love Series: The Convenient Mail Order Bride (Book 1), The Mistaken Mail Order Bride (Book 2), The Accidental Mail Order Bride (Book 3), and The Bargain Mail Order Bride (Book 4-due out January 7)
That’s about one week sooner than I was expecting, so I’m excited.  I’ll post the info on this book and where you can buy it in the September Newsletter since it’s close to September 1.
You can pre-order this book at Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo | iBooks | Smashwords.
The Viscount’s Runaway Bride is almost halfway done
This is Book 1 in the Marriage by Bargain Series.
Book 2 is The Rake’s Vow.  (I still need a title for Book 3.)
20160607_The_Viscounts_Runaway_Bride
I made good progress on this one over the past week, and I’m happy to say I’m in chapter 10!  I was hoping to release this in October, and if things continue  as well as they have been, I’ll be able to do that!  *fingers crossed*
You can find out more about it, or pre-order it by going to its Book Launch page.
I’m at chapter 5  in Groom For Hire
As mentioned above, this is Book 3 in the Pioneer Series!
Groom for Hire
This is due out in December.  I’m hoping for December 18, but we’ll see how things end up.  Either way, it will be out in December.  This book will finish up the Pioneer Series.  I hope to have more information on pre-ordering this book in the next newsletter.  *fingers crossed*
I’m in chapter 2 of The Bargain Mail Order Bride
As stated above, this is Book 4 in the Chance at Love Series.
The_Bargain_Mail_Order_Bride_new version
Finally, Carl Richie gets his own book, and I hope to make Carl and Abe friends after their lifelong feud.  Of course, this is primarily a romance, so I won’t be focusing all my time on the half-brothers.  🙂
I already have pre-order information for this book.  You can check it and more information on this book at its Book Launch page.
I think I’ll stop there for now.  I should have more stuff to share next month.  I have plenty of things coming up, and I’m excited about them all, but I don’t want to take up too much of this post.
I hope everyone has an awesome August!
The Earl’s Wallflower Bride is Now Available!
It’s finally out!  And this book completes the entire Marriage by Arrangement Series.
The Earl’s Wallflower Bride  (Book 3)
20160322_His_Wallflower_Bride_ebook2
Helena, Melissa, and Chloe are arranging marriages, but not all will go smoothly on the way to a happily ever after…
Warren Beaufort, the Earl of Steinbeck, prides himself on having the best of the best. From his furnishings in his townhouse to his clothes, he chooses everything with the intention of impressing others. And more than that, he has amassed a fortune that is the envy of many in London. One thing he lacks, however, is an heir. In order to get the heir, he’ll need a wife.
Lady Iris, the Duke of Hartwell’s daughter, has money, but she lacks both grace and looks. One thing she does have, however, is the good sense to know a gentleman like Warren is all wrong for her, which is why she’s horrified to learn she’s been matched with him for marriage. But the Duchess of Ashbourne and her friends assure her that she and Warren have so much in common they are an ideal match.
Having no way out of the marriage her father has arranged for her, she has no choice but to marry Warren. While she might have to give him the heir, she will never, under any circumstance, give him something far more precious…her heart.
The Viscount’s Runaway Bride will start a brand new Regency Series
20160607_The_Viscounts_Runaway_Bride
In The Earl’s Wallflower Bride, I introduce Anthony Barlow, Viscount Worsley, who is Warren (Lord Steinbeck)’s friend.  The Viscount’s Runaway Bride is Anthony’s book.
I’m already into Chapter 3 in this one.  So far, I only know what the next book in this series will be, and that will be The Rake’s Vow.  I will post more about this in future posts.
I have listed this for a release date of April 23, 2017, but I fully expect to have it out this October or November.
Groom for Hire is expected out in December!
Groom for Hire
I have notified my publisher that this can be out sooner than spring of next year.  At the moment, there is no pre-order info on this, but this book will complete the Pioneer Series.  I listed the books in this series under The Marriage Agreement, which is above. 🙂
A quick look ahead:
I don’t want to bog down this post, so I’ll do a quick glimpse of what you can expect early next year:
  1. The Bargain Mail Order Bride (Book 4 in the Chance at Love Series) will be out in January
  2. The Rake’s Vow (Book 2 in Marriage by Bargain Series) will be out around February to March
  3. The Reclusive Earl (Book 1 in Marriage by Fate Series) will be out around February to March
  4. Shane’s Deal (Book 4 in the Montana Collection) should be out around March or April)
  5. After Shane’s Deal, I should finally get around to writing Sep’s book.  (Sep is April’s brother in Shotgun Groom which featured Joel Larson in the Nebraska Series).  From there I will work on the books for Amanda and Richard’s twin sons (Mark and Anthony)
Hope everyone has a great July!
Here’s the description:
Eric Johnson has been writing to his mail-order bride for months, and at long last, the day she’s due to arrive has come. Only, the young lady who comes off the stagecoach isn’t at all what he expected. She’s homely in appearance, and she has an orphan child with her.
However, he is a man of his word, so he’s going to marry her. He had enjoyed their correspondence over the past year, after all, and really, initial impressions aren’t everything. But when the preacher pronounces them husband and wife, he finds out she’s the wrong lady.
Caroline Benton’s just as shocked as he is, not realizing she’d gotten off at the wrong town and followed the wrong man home. Why, oh why, didn’t she think to ask him his name? Now she and the orphan child she brought with her are stuck in a strange town with a man who’d been waiting for someone else.
She can’t imagine he’s at all happy to be paired up with her for the rest of his life. Not only is she rather unattractive, but she doesn’t know the first thing about housekeeping. Just what is she supposed to do to convince him it’s not the end of the world that he married the wrong mail-order bride?
I’m happy to say this book will be released earlier than I expected!  I’ll make a post over here when it is released with the description and links to buy it.  In the meantime, you can click on the cover, and it’ll take you to the book launch page which has the links on where you can pre-order it.
The Earl’s Wallflower Bride is over halfway done!
This puts me on track for releasing this book in July.  At the moment, it’s not available for pre-order on Barnes & Noble or Amazon because I haven’t set the exact date yet.  I have to see when I finish the first draft before I can set a specific date.  Hopefully, next month, I’ll be able to tell you when that is.  But for now, I know it’ll be in July, and you can find it on iBooks, Kobo, and Smashwords.
I’m about halfway into The Marriage Agreement!
This is book 2 in the Pioneer Series.  Book 1 is Wagon Trail Bride.
This is set for August 7.  This has been one of those hard books to write.  I don’t know why, either.  I enjoy the characters and plot, but it seems that it’s hard to figure out what comes next.  I know, I know.  The plotters out there are screaming that I should be plotting this book.  But honestly, if I did that, the characters would change everything on me anyway so there’s no point in doing it.
I am now working on The Accidental Mail Order Bride!
This is book 3 in the Chance at Love Series.  Book 1 is The Convenient Mail Order Bride, and book 2 is The Mistaken Mail Order Bride (which is the one mentioned above).
This book is due out September 4.  In this book I will show a different view of Carl (who was the villain in The Convenient Mail Order Bride).  If you’ll remember, Abe and Carl were half-brothers fighting over the same piece of land.  Well, in this book I touch more on that, although I won’t do Carl’s book until The Bargain Mail Order Bride.
Since I mentioned The Bargain Mail Order Bride, I’ll reveal the cover here, and, if you’re inclined you can pre-order it at Kobo and iBooks.  You can add it to your library at Smashwords.
It’s due out January 7, which I know sounds like it’s a long way from now, but honestly, I can’t believe it’s already May!  (The older I get, the more I sound like my mom.  She used to say time went too fast. LOL)
Hope everyone has a great May!
Her Devilish Marquess is Available!
Since it’s the middle of the month, I figured I’d announce this before May 1.  This is Book 2 in the Marriage by Arrangement Series.
Here’s the description:
Dr. Derek Westward has been happy living his life doing everything possible to upset the Ton. Second to his occupation, it’s one of his favorite pastimes. Then his brother dies, and the worst thing imaginable happens. He inherits the title of a marquess. Now he has to secure the future of his family’s estate with an heir, and worse, he’s expected to be on his best behavior, something he’s been unable to do since childhood.
Miss Danette Everson has given up on ever marrying. At twenty-five, she’s resigned herself to spinsterhood, until her friend decides she’d be better off married. Before she knows it, she’s a bride. But her new husband isn’t the reputable gentleman she was hoping for. No, he’s got a horrible tendency to scandalize the Ton at every opportunity that presents itself. Surely, a pair couldn’t be more mismatched. Whatever were the three matchmaking ladies thinking when they arranged for her to marry the most devilish marquess in all of London?
Here’s where you can buy it if you interested:
Amazon
iBooks
Kobo
Barnes & Noble
Smashwords
Cover Reveal for the next book in the series:
Also, I love it when authors share their new covers on an upcoming book, so I thought I’d throw in a cover reveal for Book 3 in the Marriage by Agreement Series.  It features Lord Steinbeck, who was pretty much the villain in Her Devilish Marquess.  The heroine (Lady Iris, introduced in His Wicked Lady) is going to have her work cut out for her in this book!
You can click on the cover below to pre-order it if you wish.  At the moment, it’s only on iBooks and Kobo, but I will have it on Amazon and Barnes & Noble for pre-order in about a month and a half to two months.  Here’s the link.
The link also includes what Lord Steinbeck and Lady Iris think of their arranged marriage, and I got to say Lady Iris isn’t happy at all.  (And I have to say after what Lord Steinbeck said, I hope she really lets him have it in this book!  He needs it.)
Bonus Material from the Nebraska Series is out!
And it’s only $0.99!
I decided not to mention this when it became available early last month because I had just done a post over here.  I figured I’d wait until this month to announce it.  For those of you who love the Larsons from the Nebraska Series, this book features a series of posts I did with the characters.  It covers some behind the scenes look at their discontent as I wrote books like Shotgun Groom, Isaac’s Decision, To Have and To Hold, and Her Heart’s Desire. It also features Dave Larson’s antics, like when he called for a boycott on my books and when he was kidnapped.
It also includes the heroes competing for votes for things like the best poet.  Here’s a link to that specific post if you want an idea of what you’ll find in the book.  I decided on sharing this one because I love the poem Joel makes up in order to make fun of Dave. 🙂
Here’s the Book Launch page that gives the links to where you can buy this book AND includes what Dave, Joel, and Tom Larson this of this book!
Her Devilish Marquess will be out April 17!
I now have this up on pre-order at Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo.  I included the links on the Book Launch page if you’d like to check out some fun tidbits the characters from my Regencies had to say about it.
The hero turned out to be a sweetheart.  He can’t stand hypocrisy, so when he comes across it, he has a tendency to let people have what’s coming to them.  This, in turn, upsets prominent members of the Ton who blackball him.  So he is the most unpopular gentleman in London.
The heroine is a wallflower type who is scared to death of scandals.
You got to pair up opposites sometimes in order to make books interesting. 🙂
I should finish the first draft of The Mistaken Mail Order Bride this week!
This puts me right on schedule to releasing it out on June 5, which is the original projected release date.  For those of you who read The Convenient Mail Order Bride, this is Sheriff Eric Johnson’s story.
The Earl’s Wallflower Bride is under way
I don’t have a cover yet but will soon
I do have a pre-order link (includes some fun bickering between the hero and heroine)
Since I am ahead of schedule with my writing goals, I was able to get started on this earlier than expected.  I’m already in chapter 7 and am planning to have this out sometime this summer.  I’m not exactly sure when, but I’ll keep you posted in these posts.
This book involves Lord Steinbeck (Mr. Jasper’s friend in His Wicked Lady) and Lady Iris (whom Lady Cantrell warned to stay as far from Lord Steinbeck as possible).  Needless to say Lord Steinbeck and Lady Iris are paired up for marriage.  It’s fun stuff!
This is coming along, and I should have it out on August 7, which is the projected pre-order date.  More information about the book is also on the book launch page, which you can find by clicking the cover.  I thought I’d wait until I get closer to the release date to give more details about this book.
I hope everyone will have a great April!
