Done with the Enchanted Galaxy Series!

royal hearts ebookthe royal pursuit ebook coverroyal heiress ebook coverI just uploaded the final book in the series to Smashwords.  I have never tried to release a book early when it’s been in pre-order, but I’m going to try it with this one.  So sometime in the middle of October, I’ll try to get these three books out.  In case I can’t get the books out before November 20, 21, and 22 (the current release dates), I’ll hold off on announcing they are available.  Remember, this a romantic fantasy series, not full-fledged romances.  I’m not sure if that’s everyone’s cup of tea, so I wanted to make that clear.  The last thing I want to do is mislead anyone. 🙂

A Groom’s Promise will be released on December 20!

a groom's promise

This book follows Bride by Arrangement.

It’s finished and with the editor as we speak.  My publisher is in the process of getting it up on pre-order.  At the moment, it’s only on Amazon, but it should be going up on other sites soon.

Janet and I made a book launch page to go with it.  So if you want to see what the characters are saying, more information on what the two stories in this book are about, and/or a picture of me and Janet together, that will be over there.

Wagon Trail Bride’s First Draft will be done by October 10!

Wagon Trail Bride (Pioneer Series: Book 1)

This puts me right on schedule for the book’s upcoming release on January 3.  I have to get the book edited before it’s ready for publication.  Richard Larson’s story has turned out way better than I hoped.  It took me three years to finally get this one right.  I had started it several times, and none of those “took”, so I had to go back and restart the entire thing from scratch.

Today I got to chapter 22.  Now, it’s a matter of giving him his happy ending.

I have created a book launch page to give an overview of the book.   I linked it to where it’s currently on pre-order (which is only iBooks at this time).  I’m still waiting for my publisher to get it up on other sites.  But, what is really fun about the page are the characters’ thoughts about the book.  I really enjoy bringing in characters.  That is my favorite part in doing those book launch pages.

I’m over halfway through His Wicked Lady!

His Wicked Lady ebook cover

His Wicked Lady (Marriage by Arrangement: Book 1)

If you’ll recall, Malcolm Jasper (the hero in this book) was Melissa Jasper’s brother in Ruined by the Earl.  Anyway, in this book, he gets to have his romance, and as luck would have it, he and Logan (aka Lord Toplyn who is also Melissa’s husband) still don’t get along.  This makes the perfect set up for this book because Logan and Regan (the heroine in His Wicked Lady) do get along.  Logan is even giving her advice on how to get Malcolm to think of her in more favorable terms.  Because…Malcolm wasn’t all that happy to learn he was matched up with her for the marriage.

For fun, I made a post the other day on my author blog where I give a sample scene showing how Malcolm and Logan are taking jabs at each other.

But to be fair to the heroine of this book, Regan did try to let Malcolm know she was the one who was to marry him.  I made a post about that, too.  So really, Malcolm only has himself to blame.

If you want to see the book launch page for this book (along with pre-order links, character endorsements/or non-endorsements), here’s the link.

****

I think I’ll stop there since I just dumped a lot of information in this post.  I’ll have more to share next month.

Fantasy Series Update

royal hearts ebookthe royal pursuit ebook coverroyal heiress ebook cover

Royal Hearts is done.  I’m waiting for the other two to get back from my awesome and wonderful team.  The month I’m set to release the three books is November, unless they get in early.  We’ll see how things go.

Wagon Trail Bride – Progressing Nicely!

wagontrailbrideebook2

You have no idea how happy I am this is finally on track!  I’m now at 24,000 words (out of my goal of 60,000).  I know this doesn’t seem like much, but since I stalled out for a year at 10,000 words and had to restart the entire thing, this is a huge accomplishment.  I’m at 1/3 of the way through, and everything is going along perfectly.  Let’s just hope this keeps up.

Richard Larson’s been wanting his story for so long, and I’d love for him to have it.  I’d like to get this to my most excellent publisher, Parchment & Plume, by December.

His Wicked Lady

His Wicked Lady ebook cover

I’m not as far as I wanted to be, but 15,000 words in is better than nothing.  My average for Regencies is 60,000 words, so I’m making that my goal.   So, I still have a ways to go, but I have set a tentative release date of January 9, 2016.  I want to give myself plenty of time because I hate pushing the dates back.

Anyway, where I’m at in the story, the hero has stupidly agreed to marry the lady picked for him without asking to meet her first.  What he doesn’t know is that he already has met her…and has decided he doesn’t want someone like her.  She has no real sense of propriety, and he’s all about a spotless reputation.  I can’t wait for the scene when he realizes she’s the one he married after he lifts the veil from her face.  *grins with glee*

The Convenient Mail Order Bride

the convenient mail order bride ebook cover

Progress is slow on this one, too.  I’m only at 10,000 words.  It took time to decide what the situation was going to be for the heroine in this story.  I already knew the ad she answered was written by someone other than the hero.  The hero had no knowledge of this ad and was shocked when she came to his house.  The heroine wasn’t happy to find out the truth, either, but she made a convincing argument as to why he should give her a chance to prove they might get along well.  So at the moment, she is in another bedroom before they decide whether or not to marry.  (As you all know, they will end up together, but it’ll be fun to see how they come to realize that.) 😉

I’d like to get this out in February, maybe around the 20th.

****

I am doing a quick look at future books because all of the three romances above are the first book in their series.  Here’s a quick breakdown:

Pioneer Series: Book 1 is Wagon Trail Bride, which I’m working on.  Book 2 will be The Marriage Agreement.  I have not titled Book 3 at this time.

Marriage by Arrangement Series: Book 1 is His Wicked Lady, which I’m working on.  Book 2 is not titled yet, but the hero is going to be Dr. Westward (who will become the Marquis of Doddsworth when his older brother dies).  Dr. Westward, if you’ll recall, showed up in The Earl’s Stolen Bride when he agreed to care for Chloe’s younger brother who was sickly.  He’s also known for having taken off his shirt at Duke Rumsey’s ball and denouncing the hypocrisy in London.  Quite frankly, I love him already.

Colorado Romances Series: Book 1 is The Convenient Mail Order Bride, which I’m working on.  I know the hero for Book 2 since I introduced him, but I need a title and suitable plot to go with it.  I’m thinking it might be The Wrong Mail Order Bride, but we’ll see how things develop.

Hope everyone has a great September!

The Rest of the Enchanted Galaxy Series is With the Editor! (A Royal Engagement is Book 1 and is already out.)

royal hearts ebookthe royal pursuit ebook coverroyal heiress ebook cover

I’m officially done with my part of working on these books, and they are off to the editor.  I told her no rush.  My publishing goal for all of these books is November.  I plan to publish them at the same time.

If fantasy is not your thing, you probably want to skip them.  While romance is there, the fantasy is pretty dominant.  I couldn’t get around it with the way the plots were set up.  To make them less fantasy-ish, I’d have to change the stories, and honestly, I’d rather focus on my current works in progress.

Wagon Trail Bride (Pioneer Series: Book 1)

wagontrailbrideebook2

I think I finally worked out the kinks in this one.  (I really hope I did, anyway.) This has been one of the hardest books I’ve ever written.  Trying to figure out how I got Amanda and Richard Larson to marry has been the biggest challenge in this whole thing.  I know there’s a lot of expectations on this story, and I want to make sure it lives up to its expectations.

I’m in chapter six now (which is 14,000 words in), so I still have a ways to go.  My estimate is to have this out in December or January.  We’ll see.  But this will be going to my publisher, Parchment & Plume.

His Wicked Lady (Marriage by Arrangement: Book 1)

His Wicked Lady ebook cover

I’ve officially started my next Regency series.  This picks right up where the last series (Marriage by Deceit) ended.  Helena, Chloe, and Melissa are going to be arranging some marriages, and their first couple will involve Melissa’s very own brother, Malcolm Jasper (from Ruined by the Earl).  And, as you might have guessed, I’ve decided to pair him up with a lady who can teach him it’s okay to stop stressing over silly things like the Ton’s rules.  I expect this one to be a lot of fun.

I’d like to get this out in January 2016.

The Convenient Mail Order Bride

(standalone in the Mail Order Brides Collection)

the convenient mail order bride ebook cover

This is a standalone book.  It doesn’t come as a part of a series.  It is, however, a book I am writing that features a mail-order bride.  That being the case, I am putting it in with the Mail Order Brides Collection.  Each book in this collection is a standalone, so there aren’t any order they have to be read.

I do so many series that I like to take a break and do standalone romances from time to time.  It helps me to stay creative if I can do a variety of stories.  In this case, the hero wasn’t told someone placed an ad on his behalf, so when his mail-order bride shows up, he’s not too happy.  Don’t worry.  He doesn’t take it out on her.  The man who wrote the ad didn’t tell her he wasn’t really the hero.  I’ll have to see where things go.  At the moment, I’m only at chapter 2 when she finds out she’s been lied to.  (The hero won’t find out until a little later.)

I’d like to have this out in January.  *fingers crossed*

That’s about it for now.  I hope everyone has a fun August!

July 2015 Newsletter

This month, I’m moving.  Up to now, I’ve been getting everything ready to move.  But early this month, I actually pick up from my old home and go to my new one. 🙂

That being the case, I’m only doing light work during this hectic time.  I started the Enchanted Galaxy Series last year with A Royal Engagement, which was book 1.  So I figured I might as well work on the next three books in the series and finish the whole thing up.  These books are already written.  I’m just going through and polishing them up, which makes them easy enough to work on while I’m moving.

I tried to work on Wagon Trail Bride, but between phone calls, running to do errands, and buying and selling houses, it just hasn’t been possible.

Working on the Enchanted Galaxy Series To Get it Ready for November 22 (or sooner, if luck prevails)

I wanted to make the Enchanted Galaxy Series fantasy romances, which means the focus is on the romance, but after going through book 2 and 3, I realized they are romantic fantasies.

This means the focus is more on the fantasy.  Book 1 worked as a fantasy romance, but the other three books won’t.

So I’m just giving everyone a heads up now.  If fantasy doesn’t appeal to you, this might not be your cup of tea.  I do have romances woven in the next three books, but they aren’t the main plot.

As a quick reminder, this is book 1:

a royal engagement ebook cover

In this book (which is already published), Ann Kerwin from planet Earth learns she is going to be a queen on a planet called Raz, and even more, the young man who’s come to get her will be her husband.

If you haven’t read this yet, I am planning to set the price at $0.99 when I publish the other three books, so hold off on buying it.  Right now it’s $2.99. I don’t want to lower the price until the other books are out.  I plan to have all three books published no later than November 22.  (If I’m lucky, I might get them all out before then, but we’ll see.  Part of it depends on my editor’s busy schedule.)  If you’re on my email list, then I plan to offer a special deal, but the deal is only available for people on the list.  (I want to give something special for people who are on the list with every story I publish. :D)

Anyway, here’s my progress on the next three books in the Enchanted Galaxy Series.

Royal Hearts (Book 2)

royal hearts ebook

I am done with this one and have handed this off to my editor.  In this one, Ann (the queen of Raz) is sent back in time to Earth where William (her ex-boyfriend in book 1) is going to try to win her over so she never marries Hathor.  I bring in the greek gods and goddesses (the Olympians) and Palers from book 1 back in this one.

The Royal Pursuit (Book 3)

the royal pursuit ebook cover

I am in the middle of this one.  Ann (queen of Raz) is sent to another planet to retrieve the Stone of Immortality the Nicals stole from the Olympians.  While on there, she is kidnapped by someone who tries to convince her to divorce Hathor for him.  I bring in the Palers and William back to this one.

Once done with this, I’ll give it to my editor.

Royal Heiress (Book 4)

royal heiress ebook cover

I plan to work on this one later this month.  Queen Ann’s daughter, Amanda, has just become queen of Raz, and her first order of business will be getting a husband.  She thinks this task has been thwarted when she’s called on her first mission, but it’s not.  In this book, I bring in the greek gods and goddesses (from Olympia, again).  I also bring in a prominent character from book 3.  I don’t want to spoil it by saying who.

Will Have to Return to Wagon Trail Bride in mid-to-late August

My goal is to make it quick for all three of these books.  That way I can get back to Wagon Trail Bride as soon as possible.  I should also be settled into my new home by then, too, so that will help me be able to pick up on writing a new story again.

Ideally, I’ll have finished the entire Enchanted Galaxy Series by the time I make my next post over here.  *fingers crossed*

Hope everyone has a great July!

The Earl’s Stolen Bride is now Available!

theearlsstolenbride

I wanted to wait until this was out before I made this blog post.

Here’s the description:

Orlando Emmett, the Earl of Reddington, has one regret in his life: letting the lady of his dreams go. Before he could make his feelings known to Miss Chloe Boyle, he found out she married Lord Hawkins. Night after night, he’d think of all the things he should have told her when he had the chance, and all he could do was watch her, secretly admiring her from afar.

A year later, fate intervenes. News of Lord Hawkins’ death has just given him a second chance, an opportunity to make his dreams come true, but he’ll have to risk a scandal to take it.

Chloe was relieved when news came of her husband’s death. The two had hardly spoken more than a few words to each other before he left for India on their wedding day. And a full year passed with only polite correspondence between them. While some envied her marriage, the aching loneliness in her life only reminded her that money couldn’t buy happiness.

Fate intervenes when a friend takes her just outside of London to meet Orlando, a handsome stranger she only barely remembers. During her entire marriage to Lord Hawkins, all she’d wanted was a husband who’d love her so much he’d give up anything to be with her. And now she just might get her wish, if only she’s strong enough to take it.

Finished with A Groom’s Promise

a groom's promise

Both Janet Syas Nitsick and I completed our stories in the anthology, A Groom’s Promise.  Right now we’re on edits.  I think we’re going to wait until January for this one.  Long story short, the edits are intense and so will be the formatting.  With co-authored projects, it’s just hard to get things together, so it takes longer to get a book ready.  (Plus, I’m moving to another state, which means less time being able to work on this with her.)

I’ll Write in Wagon Trial Bride When I Have Time

wagontrailbrideebook2

Since I am in the process of moving, things are going to be hectic.  It’ll be easier for me to polish up books for the Enchanted Galaxy Series than try to work on a new one.  I will do what I can in Wagon Trail Bride.  I’d love to have it out in September, but that is a very tentative release month.  It’s likely it’ll be later.

Putting This On Hold

the convenient mail order bride ebook cover

I love this story idea, but I have to put it on hold because of the move.  At this point, this one will have to wait for 2016.  I had to decide between this one and Wagon Trail Bride, and since people have been waiting patiently (and for a long time) for Wagon Trail Bride, I’m going to put my efforts in Wagon Trail Bride.

My Focus Will Be On Finishing Up The Enchanted Galaxy Series

(This is a fantasy romance series set in a contemporary time period.)

royal hearts ebook

Since this is a light rewrite, progress is fast in this one.  This is Book 2.  I should be halfway done by Monday.

the royal pursuit ebook cover

This one should also be a light rewrite.  This is Book 3.

royal heiress ebook cover

I wasn’t going to do Book 4, but as I was thinking of how Book 3 played out, I realized I need Book 4 to complete the series.  Books 1-3 feature Ann and Hathor as the main couple.  Book 4 is about their daughter when she assumes the throne.  In order to dismiss Book 4, I’d have to do serious changes to Book 3, and I like Book 3 the way it is.  So I am adding this, and I would like to get this out by the end of the year with the other books.

But there is something about Book 4 that is unlike the other books I usually do: this one will have no sex in it.  It’s not set up for it, so sex would add nothing to the story.  I don’t believe in adding sex for the sake for sex.  It has to serve a purpose to the plot, and in this case, it doesn’t.  So the heat level is squeaky clean.  This is one of my PG books.  All that happens in a kiss.  (As you know, I rarely write PG.)  Books 1-3 do have sex in them.

I want to publish all three out in the same time frame, which will be this fall.  So I’m going to try to get it all done this summer.

That’s all I got for this month.  I hope everyone has a great June!

The Earl’s Stolen Bride is Finally Picking Up Speed

theearlsstolenbride

And that’s a relief, too, since I was struggling to figure out where the characters wanted to go in the story. 🙂  I’m not the type of author who plots out a book.  I go in knowing how the story starts, and from there, I write to figure out the rest.  As you’d guess, this does involve a lot of uncertainty when writing a book, but I find it’s also the reason why I enjoy it so much.  I never know how any story is going to go until I’m writing it.

In this case, I’ve been able to write a lot more in the past week than I have all month.  I’m now hovering near the halfway point in the story.  I’m really hoping to finish the first draft by the end of this month.  *fingers crossed*

One thing I do enjoy a lot about this story is that the hero is extremely devoted to the heroine.  He’d been in love with her secretly for over a year, and now that she’s a widow, he can finally be with her.  (Of course, being a widow in the Regency era meant you had to be in mourning for a year before you could do marry again, but that isn’t what this couple did and naturally, that is where the bulk of this story is about.)

At the moment, I’m expecting this out in July.

My Novella in A Groom’s Promise Has Turned Into a Novel

a groom's promise

This story keeps going on and on.  It’s just passed the 40,000 word stage.  I expect it to be at 50,000 words or a little more.  I don’t know if I can finish this by the end of this month or not.  It depends on how much longer the characters of this book want it to be. 😉

I keep going back and forth on the title of my novel in this anthology, and I think I’ll just go with The Shy Groom.

I think this will also be out in July.

I Currently Have This On Hold While I Work On The Earl’s Stolen Bride and my novel in A Groom’s Promise

wagontrailbrideebook2

I also have what I’ve done so far with a trusted beta reader to make sure the story is progressing nicely.  This is one of those stories where I’m having trouble deciding what’s best for the characters.  I’m hoping something will click at some point (like it did in The Earl’s Stolen Bride).

I have no idea when this will be out, but I am planning for it to be out this year.  I’m hoping toward the end of this summer.

I’m Going to Finish Up The Enchanted Galaxy Series This Year

These are contemporary fantasy romances. Book 1 is A Royal Engagement, and I published it late last year.  It’s long overdue for me to get the rest of the series finished so I’m going to do that this year.

Book 2:

royal hearts ebook

Book 3:

the royal pursuit ebook cover

I have November and December down, but I might be able to bump it up to either September or October, which is what I’d love to do.

This Has Been Moved Back to a January Release

the convenient mail order bride ebook cover

I just can’t fit it in with everything else for this year.  My calendar is too full with my other projects, and I promised my publisher I’d get A Groom’s Promise and Wagon Trail Bride to  them this year.  The others I’m publishing myself, so I can switch the dates on those as I need to.

As excited as I am about this book, I have to push it back.  There’s not enough time to write everything I want to. 😀

I hope everyone will have a terrific May!

The Earl’s Stolen Bride will probably be out in June or July

theearlsstolenbride

I hate to say it’ll be out before these months because progress has been slow on this book.  The problem is that I’m having trouble knowing exactly how things are playing out, so I have to go slow.  Some books take longer to write than others, and this is going to be one that takes a long time.  It seems I can only go in short bursts before I have to think it over.  So I had to push the deadline for this one back.

In the meantime, I am working on other stories…

A Groom’s Promise is Going Along Well

a groom's promise

I am over the halfway point in my novella “The Marriage Bargain” that is in this anthology with Janet Syas Nitsick.  (I was calling my novella “The Shy Groom”, but I like “The Marriage Bargain” better.)  I think we’re still set to publish this anthology in June.  However, Janet has been going through some health issues and attending to a funeral in the family.  So it’s a hectic time for her, and it might push the book’s release back.  If anyone would like to pray for her, I’m sure she’d appreciate it.

Richard Larson’s Romance is Going Along Well

wagontrailbrideebook2

I finally hit the 10,000 mark on this story.  I know that doesn’t seem like much since I have been “working” on this on and off for over a year, but this time I am finally on the right track.  I’m looking for a summer release on it.  *fingers crossed*

I Just Started The Convenient Mail Order Bride

(Cover Should Be Coming Soon)

I just picked up on another historical western romance.  This is supposed to be a standalone mail-order bride story, but if it leads into a series, I’ll let it.  It took me a while to figure out what to do with the hero.  I wanted to do give him a reason he didn’t want to be married because he’s not the one who places the ad for a mail-order bride.  Someone else placed it.  So I had to figure out who sent it and why.  Now that I’ve figured it out, I can write the book.  I’m not sure if it’ll be out this year or next.  I still have to finish up the Enchanted Galaxy series.  I’ll get to those in future posts.

Hope everyone has a great April!

Look for this one in Late March or Early April

Ruined by the Earl ebook cover

Well, I wanted to be finished with this first draft already, but as it turns out, I’m not.  Which is a real bummer.  I might or might not be able to get this out before next month.  If I do, it won’t be until the very end.  I have kids who will be off school for Spring Break, and that cuts into my productivity time.

What I’ll do it post the April newsletter on here after it’s published with all the links.  That way you won’t be bugged with more than one email (like you were in February with the two books I had out in the middle of the month.)

Not Sure When this one will be Done

theearlsstolenbride

I’m only chapter five, and writing Bride by Design did delay me (a bit) because I had to focus in on it to get it done under a tight deadline.  I’ve also been snail pacing with my writing in order to take care of gathering stuff for taxes.  I’m telling you, that is a huge time suck.  You’d think it’d be easy, but it’s not when you’re waiting for things to come in, have to make phone calls to get things to come in, ask your accountant for advice, etc.  I finally got everything together.  Thankfully.  So maybe I can finally gain some traction.

Originally, I was hoping for an April release.  I already know that isn’t going to happen.  May or June is now looking to be the possible months.

Back to working on my Novella in this Anthology

This is book 2 in the Marriage by Deceit Series.

Camden Hollis, the Duke of Ashbourne, needs to pay off his brother’s debts, but all he has is a troubled estate. So when he hears that Lady Seyton is known for teaching ladies what to do to secure marriages by the end of the Season, he comes to her for help.

Helena Walter, the Lady of Seyton, doesn’t know what to think of Camden’s unusual request. How could a titled gentleman who is so good looking need help getting a wife? Her initial response is to turn him down, thinking he is merely wasting her time. But then she catches him bumbling through a conversation with a lady, and realizes he–more than anyone–needs her help.

And so the lessons begin. But before long, Camden is convinced she’s the perfect one for him. She, however, is a widow and is happy with her freedom. He might find it’ll require a scandal to get the two things he wants most: a love match and securing his estate.

Remember, this is a sweet contemporary romance.  I’d say it’d be rated at PG if this was a movie.  There’s no more than a few kisses in each story.  There is minor violence in Catherine Lynn’s story, which is why I bumped it up to PG.
